First and foremost, as a Pet Sitter, one must have a passion for animals; oftentimes, pets feel stressed when their owners are away, and a natural compassion and patience with animals will help you be successful in this role. While you don’t need formal education or training, it’s helpful to have significant previous experience taking care of animals, whether a personal pet or those of your friends and neighbors. Pet Sitters must be active and flexible—especially for animals that require extra exercise and attention.

Vanguard Resources Inc. (VRI), an Industry Leader in Facilities Management, (providing maintenance, housekeeping, dietary, security, grounds keeping, & other services), celebrating 28 years in operation, (still family-owned & operated), is actively recruiting for an hourly, non-exempt, Part Time/As Needed Pet Sitter to assist the residents, ‘as needed’ with their pet care and sitting needs.

Although there is not a set schedule and one may be called upon as needed, the job duties require a time commitment and knowledge of pet care, but no formal education or training is needed to start.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Pet Sitter to provide temporary care for pets when their owners, our Residents, are away. The successful candidate is responsible for providing food, exercise, and companionship for the pets, as well as ensuring their safety and well-being. The Pet Sitter may also be asked to perform minor housekeeping duties, such as bringing in the mail and taking out the trash, while the owners are away.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide companionship, exercise, and playtime for pets
• Feed, water, and administer medication as needed
• Ensure the pet’s safety and well-being at all times
• Monitor the pet’s health and alert the owner of any changes
• Perform basic housekeeping duties as needed
• Clean up after the pet, including disposing of waste
• Provide updates to the owner on the pet’s progress while they are away
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience providing pet care
• Knowledge of pet health, nutrition, and behavior
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently and follow instructions
• Flexible schedule including nights and weekends
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with clean driving record – no more than 3 moving violations within past 3 years.
• Agree to required health screens/immunizations – ie. Flu vaccine, during peak flu season, etc.
• Pre-employment: 7 year criminal background check and 10 panel drug screen
